Indianapolis Organic Groceries & Food: Lisa Parret Reviews Green B.E.A.N. Indiana

           Indianapolis, Indiana Houses for Sale

Just like you, I'm often starved for time. Trips to the grocery store to stock up for the week are cumbersome and draining. And, if you're like me, you appreciate the idea of eating organically and putting locally-produced, farm fresh food on the table for your family.

My oh my, if only there were a service that delivered locally-grown, organic produce directly to your door.

There is! And it's called Green B.E.A.N. Indiana!

I've been a customer for a couple of months now and absolutely love the service. And that's exactly what it is: convenient, organic service directly to your door.

You simply sign up on the website, provide a valid debit or credit card, tell them where to place your produce bin and how often you want delivery. The company will assign a delivery day. Your next job is to choose what produce hits the taste spot. Members choose from one of five different produce bins, each varying in price and content. Each week they select a mix of seasonal produce for each bin. You can also add your own ala carte items.

Shoppers choose from over 40 seasonal fruits and veggies, plus other grocery options like local dairy, eggs, meats, bread, bulk kitchen staples, and artisan foods, many from local Indiana or Ohio farms. Your order can be altered the weekend before every scheduled delivery, with the price for each bin ranging from $35 to $49.00.

The order shows up between 2pm and 8pm on the scheduled day, packed in insulation and with ice, if necessary.

Here's what the company says about the organic nature of their products. "The majority of our produce is Certified Organic. However, we understand that many of our local producers use sustainable farming practices without certification.  All Produce is labeled as OG (Certified Organic), SG (Sustainably Grown), or CL (Conventional). Information about the growing practices of our local farmers can be obtained from Customer Service or from the farm directly. All members can customize the contents of their produce bin to match their preferences."

The price is nice, the service is convenient and saves me time, the food is sourced from Fair Trade practices and is primarily organic, and - even better - I get to support local businesses and farms. I think it's a win-win.

Let me know what you think and if you enjoy Green B.E.A.N. Indiana.
